loose us to do

Father, we come.

wanting to believe that You are the same God today who we read about of years ago.

wanting to believe that You are not just fantasy and feel good storytelling.

wanting to believe that You are more interested in a real relationship with us than religion.

draw us to the well of our hearts

draw us to confess our true thoughts.

we read about words Jesus said that seem so silly and hard to understand.

we read about words like "Feed my sheep," and we wonder how it relates to us.

statements of willingness escape us, like: "May everything you said be true . . . "

statements of confusion envelope us, like: "But how can this happen? I am a . . . "

Mary was poor and unlikely to do what You chose her to do.

we, too, are poor and confused and say "But, God . . . "

make us willing to be the "indispensable agents of change" You called us to be.

make us "undaunted by the task before us."

You say our contribution can inspire others.

You say our contribution can embolden others.

You say our contribution can feed others.

in spite of our lack of understanding, loose us to be willing to do what we know we need to do.

in spite of our lack of ability, loose us to be willing to do what we know You've called us to do.

align our dreams to Yours.

bolster our trust by our responding to Your call.

bolster our faith by our doing as You lead us.

might we no longer say, "But, God . . . "

might we instead say, "But . . . GOD . . . ! "

might we say "let it be" like Mary did, remembering You don't call the equipped.

might we say "Yes" like Mary did, remembering You don't call the qualified.

You call us in spite of our capability.

You equip us in spite of our equipment.

loose us to do as You call.

amen.
