risk

There's this element of *wonder* in choosing what's more right for you.

As much as your heart may elude confidence, there's always a bit of trepidation.

Truth is, you could be wrong.

It is a risk to follow faith. And that is the point.

To live is to die.
...to your own plans. to your own certainties. to your own fears.

Doing that job--the one that doesn't seem to make any sense, and yet just feels more right for you than the other...

Raising your hand for that leadership position in the church or the school--the one that begs of your time and attention, and yet ignites this passion within you...

It is always a risk to put yourself out there.

To live not by what we can understand and analyze with clarity. But to live by faith...

Risk is always required.

Today's post is part of my friend, Lisa-Jo's fun challenge each Friday to

"Write for five, short, bold beautiful minutes...
     Unscripted and unedited...
Without worrying if it's just right or not."

  1. Amy,
I'm visiting from The Gypsy-Mama. Thank you for sharing this post. It truly spoke to me. God's been encouraging to get my booty out there, to take a risk; to step out in faith. Your words are perfectly timed; "It is always a risk to put yourself out there. To live not by what we can understand and analyze with clarity. But to live by faith...". Perfectly said. Thank you!

  2. "It is a risk to follow faith." It is, but I think if we truly desire it, it doesn't feel that way. Still learning that...

  3. 'it's a risk to put yourself out there' - I am feeling that a lot with my blog at the moment. Why is it always easier with the anonymous masses than the people I actually know?

    Thanks for sharing.

    1. I chuckle at your rhetorical questioning, Tanya. Because, in my own town I'd like to shirk back and hide. Living it out is sometimes the hardest, isn't it?

Blessings as He fills you with His courage.

    1. Leigh,

Your comment touched me deeply. It is your words that are so "delicate and intentional" and I appreciate you having taken the time to drop a note of encouragement.

Rich blessings as He uses you to give His love.

  6. trepidation...that is a perfect word. I don't know why we make it so much harder than it needs to be for us to take that first step. Great thoughts!

    1. We make it harder because we think we know better. And gently, through living, He softens our ideas of ourselves and brings us to a place of bending low to touch His feet. That "low" point is where we are humbled to admit our fears and He gives us His courage.
