stretch

These dreams inside of me are far bigger than I can even begin to imagine.

I am overwhelmed at how they follow me around.

There is a dog in our life and I often remark over how amazing it is that we have her. Mostly, that I love her so much and she seems to adore me. Because, I was never a dog person before we had her.

Some people claim they are a people person, yet they grumble about the lady cutting them off on the highway or the children mindlessly running around in a store and their parents seeming to be in Neverland.

We don't always know what's on the other side of what we see.

I didn't ever stop to think about how maybe I really am an artist, even though my color splashed on paper is in the form of words.

What comes natural for me, I'm finding, is the tugging to create. And to love.

So, when I stop thinking about the stink and the hair, I can see a heart coming from this dog in our home. I can see that God made even her. And she has purpose, too.

I can also start to imagine that maybe the lady on the highway is headed to the hospital, rushing to be with her son who had an emergency.

Grace allows me to dream bigger than I See.

And in the dreaming, my faith is stretched.

Today's post was part of my friend, Lisa-Jo's fun challenge each Friday to

"Write for five, short, bold beautiful minutes...
     Unscripted and unedited...
Without worrying if it's just right or not."

  1. I love this, Amy, your art, the way YOU see, the insights He gives you. I have often thought about this in recent years,--whats behind things that we at first assume is one way, but in stopping to love, to consider other possibilities, we grow and stretch ourselves. Beautiful! Praying for you TODAY, RIGHT NOW. ;)

  2. Oh, I am so a dog person and there is nothing quite like their soulful eyes looking up at you with unconditional love. You are right that we need to look at things a different way and give out some of the grace we are so freely given. Great post Amy!

I love how you closed your post: "Grace allows me to dream bigger than I See. And in the dreaming, my faith is stretched."
    Yes, it absolutely does.

  5. Being chased by those same dreams, and always the doubts following.
Thank you for being brave, and for pointing grace to those that cut us off on the freeway! Love that thought and the mercy in it - "I can also start to imagine that maybe the lady on the highway is headed to the hospital, rushing to be with her son who had an emergency." Because we never really know what someone else is dealing with.
